Scrapbooking is a creative way to preserve memories, and when Halloween rolls around, it’s the perfect excuse to craft something festive and unique! This year, I used my custom Black House Acrylic Album to showcase my Halloween-themed scrapbook pages, filled with enchanting details, fun embellishments, and spooky sentiments. I used the Halloween Spells Memory Keeping 12×12 DSP that comes with the adorable stickers that just adds to the pages. The stamp set I used on this project is Halloween Memories. To pick that up you can visit my Stampin’ Up! Store HERE. Lets take a look at how I utilized the acrylic album, share some tips, and inspire you to create own spooky album and how it came together as a perfect keepsake for my October memories.
Why I Chose the Black House Acrylic Album for Halloween
The Black House Acrylic Album is one of my favorite custom-made designs because it’s both visually striking and incredibly versatile. Its unique silhouette—a sleek black acrylic house—was the perfect base for a Halloween project. The sturdy acrylic cover provides a dramatic backdrop, making bold colors and textures pop. When I started brainstorming my Halloween scrapbook, I knew I wanted it to feel cohesive yet playful. The album’s house shape immediately brought to mind haunted houses, which gave me a perfect theme to anchor my pages. Plus, the acrylic material is durable and easy to work with, ensuring that my scrapbook could handle layered embellishments and mixed-media elements without warping.
Decorating the Album Cover: Setting the Spooky Tone
If you will notice the Stars & Moon at the top of the house they are Heat Embossed on the album! Yes you can heat emboss on my Acrylic Albums! You need to make sure that you use the Embossing Buddy to take all the static off of the album first. My suggestion is to be generous when using it. I embossed the title “October” using black embossing powder and I also embossed the “Double, Double Toil & Trouble”. Using green glitter paper to enhance the Cauldron, well it just turned out amazing.
This decorated cover became a perfect introduction to the eerie yet whimsical theme of the scrapbook.
Designing the Inside Pages: Halloween Memories
The interior pages of the Black House Acrylic Album provided ample space for photos, journaling, and embellishments. I used the Halloween Spells 12×12 Designer Series Paper that comes with a sticker sheet through out the entire album.
The picture above shows inside the front cover and I opted to put stickers there. They attach nicely to the album.
Shown above the album includes a a couple of pocket pages for tags and a couple of fun fold outs. You can use the tags to adhere pictures or simply journal your memories, it is up to you! The fold out turned out nicely. It gives you just that extra space for more photos. I always enjoy all the little embellishments and stickers that you can stick anywhere to add that little bit of extra definition to the pages.
On the first picture above I made the Cauldron into a pocket and designed a tag to fit perfectly. If you will notice I put 2 witches legs coming out of the Cauldron. I thought that turned out so stinkin cute! What do you think?
Of course I added another fold out! Can you tell I love fold outs? It just gives it that little extra space to use as you would like.
Finishing Touches
After all my pages were done I put them all together using the binder rings and to “tie” everything together, I used green, purple & black gingham ribbon and tied them to the rings.
Reflecting on my Project
Using my custom Black House Acrylic Album for Halloween scrapbooking was such a rewarding experience. The album’s unique design allowed me to tell a story that felt cohesive, creative, and true to the spirit of Halloween. It was not only a way to preserve memories but also a fun creative outlet.
